Design Brief
Cushions form an integral part of soft furnishings in the home. You must design and make a cushion for a special cultural occasion using a variety of textile decorating techniques. The cushion should be good enough to be sold at a charity event. The cusion must be based on your own chosen theme.
Your tasks for this project will include
1. Research different types of textiles, decorating techniques and Joining fabric together
2. Design and annotate the cushion ideas
3. Plan the making process
4. Create a paper template (30cm H, 30cm W).
5. Make a prototype and present it for evaluation.
The cushion must include: (Specification)
a) The cushion must represent a cultural celebration.
b) Use a minimum of two decorative techniques; dye, block print, applique etc.
c) It must also- Reuse materials from disposed of textiles such as shirts, blouses etc.
d) It must appeal to the target market and be of good quality.
